Sexual Violence Prevention Education Developer/Facilitator and Crisis Support Worker
Kete Rongo Programme
We are seeking a passionate adaptable educator to join our growing Sexual Violence Prevention team as we expand delivery of ŌCASA’s Kete Rongo programme.
This role is full time but there is some flexibility regarding the specific number of hours. We welcome applicants who are confident facilitating across diverse audiences, including rangatahi, community groups and professionals. The role will also include some support work for our Crisis team.
About ŌCASA
Ōtepoti Communities Against Sexual Abuse is Otago's only specialist sexual violence support and prevention service. Based in Dunedin, we are a trauma-informed organisation committed to supporting survivors of sexual harm and preventing violence through education and community engagement to create meaningful social change.
About Kete Rongo
Kete Rongo is a trauma-informed ideologically free prevention education framework focused on consent, healthy relationships, communication, and digital safety. The programme integrates nervous system literacy and tikanga Māori values to support safe, respectful engagement across communities.
Delivery contexts include:
Schools and youth settings
Tertiary and alternative education environments
Community organisations and clubs
Professional and workforce training spaces
The Role
Facilitating workshops for a range of audiences (rangatahi, community groups, professionals) whilst ensuring their safety
Adapting delivery style to suit developmental stage and context
Contributing to ongoing curriculum refinement and innovation
Supporting development of digital and online learning resources
Keeping up to date records and providing reports to Management
Undertake networking opportunities and fostering key contacts
Some administrative tasks, taking support calls and follow up
Providing support to the Crisis team; including crisis support with clients under the direction of the crisis team
We Are Looking For Educators Who:
Are Confident Facilitators
Able to hold space with both young people and adults
Comfortable navigating sensitive topics with clarity and professionalism
Skilled in managing group dynamics across different age groups
Understand Trauma & the Brain
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice (or motivated to learn)
Interest in nervous system regulation and emotional safety in learning environments
Awareness of vicarious trauma and self-care strategies
Bring Digital & Innovation Skills
Experience creating engaging online or multimedia content
Confidence with social media communication and youth-facing platforms
Short-form video editing or digital learning design skills
Interest in expanding prevention education beyond traditional delivery models
Integrate knowledge of tikanga Māori
Generally
Able to remain calm in crisis situations, able to maintain boundaries and follow directions
Great with systems, databases and following processes
Full training will be given to the right candidate, but it would be helpful if you have experience working with clients in the community
Applications close on Tuesday 7th April, although we may begin interviewing likely candidates before that time. Interviews will include a presentation component.
