Accounts Assistant

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Head Accountant (who is amazing), the Accounts Assistant will be responsible for providing accurate financial and administrative support. Key duties will include:

  • Accounts Payable/Receivable - process invoices, prepare payments, reconciliation

  • Banking - perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations

  • Staff Expenses - process expense claims and staff reimbursements

  • Fixed Assets - maintain fixed asset register, process monthly depreciation and reconciliation

  • Property Management – reconcile and process monthly journal entries from property management reporting

  • Construction Bonds – receipt and refund bonds, maintain register

  • Assist with month‑end and year‑end processes including general ledger reconciliations

  • Assist with forecasting and monthly drawdowns

  • Assist with taxation returns including GST & PAYE

  • Assist with payroll preparation

  • Help maintain and improve internal processes

  • Provide support to management and other departments as needed.


What You'll Bring

  • Previous NZ work experience gained in a similar styled accounts / accounting role

  • A strong understanding / knowledge of accounting principles

  • A business / accounting qualification is preferred but is not essential

  • Our client uses Microsoft Dynamics Business Central. Previous experience with this accounting system would be helpful but is not essential

  • High attention to detail and genuine pride in the work you complete

  • High levels of confidentiality and integrity
